The Crags Trail

The Crags Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"After a short climb, this excellent hike leads through serene meadows below granite cliffs and boulder-strewn hillsides, with excellent views of Pikes Peak’s northern shoulders. While this is a relatively easy trail for your dog, be sure to bring the proper items—water, waste bags, snacks—for your furry friend because this can be a longer trail to complete.

With its gentle grades and unsurpassed mountain beauty, The Crags Trail (Trail 664), may be the perfect day hike in the Pikes Peak region. The trail slowly climbs up a subalpine valley below high summits, offering all the exposure and views of a full-fledged mountain ascent, but your thighs and lungs won’t feel the burn like they would if you climbed neighboring 14,115-foot Pikes Peak. The valley the trail winds up is beautiful in summer, with wildflower-strewn meadows, warm temperatures, and plentiful wildlife."
