South Platte River Trail

South Platte River Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Few people will drive to Julesburg for an easy ninety-minute bike ride. But if you’re heading into or out of Colorado on Interstate 76 near the Nebraska border, the South Platte River Trail Scenic and Historic Byway is a great spot to spin out your legs.

This 19.4 mile mixed-surface route is the shortest of the state’s twenty-three scenic and historic byways. Besides the fresh air and peaceful prairie scenery, a series of interpretive signs lines the route. Each details a piece of the area’s rich Old West history, including Fort Sedgwick (mile 7.2)."
