Clear Creek Canyon, a slicing gorge in the mountains west of Golden and Denver, is a sport climber’s paradise. Hundreds of bolt-protected routes, ranging in difficulty from 5.4 to 5.14, are found on over forty cliffs that line the steep sides of the canyon. The cliffs, composed of 1.7-billion-yearold gneiss and schist, are climberfriendly with incut edges and crimps, sharp buckets and jugs, delicate slabs, vertical faces, and lots of overhanging stone.
