Paradise Divide

Paradise Divide Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"One of the most beautiful and stressless drives in the state. In season, wildflowers are everywhere. There are limited designated camping spots within sight of the road in addition to Gothic Forest Service Campground. Washington Gulch, is a beautiful alternate way to reach Paradise Divide. Northern portion of Gothic Road is closed between March 1 and May 30 depending on snow and mud conditions. ATVs are allowed north of Nicholson Lake on Slate River Road and north of Gothic Campground on Gothic Road. The side trip to Gunsight Pass is a great ATV trip. Slate River Road is a wide graded road. As it climbs towards Paradise Divide, it becomes a narrower shelf road but there is still plenty of room to pass. Any high-clearance vehicle can reach Schofield Pass via Gothic Road when everything has dried out. In early summer, however, Gothic Road can be blocked by snow below Emerald Lake."
