Ruby Lakes / Red Lakes Semiloop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"You’ll find solitude along this trail—at least once you hike away from the Ruby Lakes—and abundant wildlife. The first 4.5 miles of trail, adopted by the Creede OHV Club, are open to foot, horse, ATV, and mountain bike use. A large portion of the trail is above timberline; watch for afternoon thunderstorms. The Papoose Fire ravaged much of the area in June 2013, so use caution when hiking through the burn area.

Sign the register, and begin hiking Fern Creek Trail 815 through the burned forest. Several long switchbacks make the initial climb a moderate one. After 0.7 mile you’ll get a view to Antelope Park and the winding waters of the Rio Grande."
