    Ellis Jeep Trail

    Ellis Jeep Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"You will definitely need a 4WD vehicle to cross the extremely boggy sections of this trail in the meadows along the South Fork of Hog Park Creek. The difficulty rating for this trail is based on its state under the driest conditions; in other conditions, the route is impassable and many vehicles get bogged each year.

Special Attractions: Challenging, remote 4WD trail; Elk viewing; Forms a 4WD loop route when combined with Elkhorn Mountain and Stock Driveway. This trail is for experienced four-wheel drivers only. It is potentially dangerous, with large rocks, ruts, or terraces that may need to be negotiated. It may also have stream crossings at least 18 inches deep, involve rapid currents, unstable stream bottoms, or difficult access; steep slopes, loose surfaces, and narrow clearances; or very narrow sections of shelf road with steep drop-offs and potentially challenging road surfaces."
