Copper Mountain/Spaulding Gulch Trailhead

Copper Mountain/Spaulding Gulch Trailhead Professional Review and Guide

"Spaulding Gulch offers a unique adventure to this trio of peaks that has the added benefit of being entirely legal (certain routes to Jacque Peak from the south pass through private mining land; this one doesn’t). Despite traversing through a developed ski area, Jacque Peak is a fun and challenging day hike—it was scenic enough to make the cover of this guide.

Hiking up from Copper Village is fun as well. Taking a chairlift up is a lazy but novel way to get up to the ridgeline—the problem is that on most summer days, the lifts don’t run until 10 a.m. (which is pushing it for storms). Maybe hoofing it is the best way to go."
