"Secluded and sedate, this loop winds through thick stands of lodgepole pine, making it a perfect option for a hot summer day. These are Grandma’s woods. Deep, quiet, stick straight, and dense, the lodgepole pines along the Shadow Pine Loop form linear corridors surrounding the singletrack trail. The forest floor is all but naked, the understory subdued by a thick layer of pine needle duff. The loop is well signed and easy to follow. It can be hiked in either direction, but is described traveling clockwise." Read more
