North Cheyenne Canyon Challenge Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This ride dishes out a great deal of action in a short time and small space. Starting with a classic 3.2-mile climb up North Cheyenne Canyon1 between walls of crumbling granite, this route takes you up to Gold Camp Road, a dirt shelf road perched high in the foothills over Colorado Springs. A lung-buster climb, phenomenal views, and interesting technical challenges await. This loop is quite short, but can be easily linked with other routes on the west side of Colorado Springs.
Terrain: Tight, twisty canyon climb that gets rather steep; slight descent on dirt road with associated technical challenges; hilly residential zone. Traffic and hazards: Weekends and warm weather add up to lots of sightseeing traffic on the road up North Cheyenne Canyon, which is undeniably narrow. There is rarely space to ride to the right of the white line. But traffic tends to ascend the canyon rather slowly, tourist-style, and cyclists should have little trouble with traffic conflicts on the way up."
