"Barr Trail climbs 13 miles to the summit of Pikes Peak, but this great day hike follows the trail’s first 3 miles up Mount Manitou to wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Pikes Peak, looming 8,000 feet above Colorado Springs, is one of America’s most famous mountains.

Pikes Peak, looming 8,000 feet above Colorado Springs, is one of America’s most famous mountains. The summit of the 14,115-foot peak is reached by auto road, cog railroad, and the Barr Trail, which climbs 12.6 miles from Manitou Springs to the summit. Barr Trail, while a difficult hike up Colorado’s thirty-first highest peak, is not an easy day hike."
