Ice Cave Creek Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The enclave of Palmer Lake, population 2,500, sits north of Colorado Springs. An extensive yet relatively underutilized trail system provides miles of terrain to explore. An enjoyable and very runnable route is the Ice Cave Creek Loop Trail.
The route starts out on a wide, dirt road flanked on either side by trees. What may seem gentle to start becomes a steep climb at the outset, but then flattens out by the first reservoir. A few more climbs ensue, but in general, the terrain is very groomed and runnable, albeit slippery in some spots, with loose, ball-bearing-size pea gravel. The singletrack in the forest provides great footing and three quick creek crossings. Views include rocky outcroppings and, at the 3.0-mile point, a vista to the east that begs the runner to stop to take in the view."
