Again not many people on these trails, lots of elevation gain and drops but nice.

A good day hike with quite a bit of elevation. NOTE: The elevation info here is wrong. From Cottonwood Pass to Texas Ck, the topo shows 1875ft of elevation drop. The wildflowers were suprisingly abundant for this late in the season. Lightning could be a concern as afternoon storms hit the high, treeless passes in the area. The trail is being rerouted and reconstructed. As such, we ended up WAY off trail. One good aspect of this: we found a beer claw. One bad aspect: we found a beer claw. So, be careful out there. The trail is going to be VERY easy to follow once they finish the work. Infact, as it is now, you can follow the blue ribbons all the way. If you don't see a ribbon in front of you, you're off route. I.e. no "cross-country navigation skills" needed, if you pay attention. Can't wait to go back.
