The road to the trailhead is very difficult. Once there, the trail is strenuous rising in elevation from 10K to 12K in only a couple of miles. Once at the basin you are at the headwaters of Frenchmans Creek. You see magnificent views of Mt Columbia to the left and Mt. Harvard to the right. In between a ridge that is impassable without rock climbing gear. There was a lot of snow patches-glaciers around. I wish I had known there was a path on the other side of Harvard to go over and down the mountain to Bear Lake. Good Trip. Collegiate Wilderness is great.
