Vega Reservoir Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Vega Reservoir covers 900 acres in a sagebrush- and aspen-filled bowl on the northeast corner of Grand Mesa, a high plateau comprising thousands of acres and more than a hundred lakes and streams.
Built in a wide, shallow meadow, this mid-altitude reservoir is one of the most productive rainbow trout fisheries in the state. Once producing a surfeit of large fish, three years of heavy drawdowns seem to have reduced the big-fish catches. However, the reservoir, which is heavily fished in the winter and summer, still produces four-fish bag limits of 16 to 18 inchers from shore or boat, using every possible fishing method from bait to flies and lures."
