Alvarado Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Alvarado is an active person's campground. On a summer Saturday there will be hikers, bikers, and horseback riders gearing up and heading out on their favorite trails. Several of the trails leave directly from the campground, which is a nice place to return after a day in the scenic Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Alvarado meets the banner standard set by the Sangre de Cristos. On a slope just into the forest line above the Wet mountain Valley, Alvarado enjoys a mixture of woodland and meadow, where Douglas fir and ponderosa pines intermingle with aspen. Cottonwood and brush grow thick along Alvarado Creek."
