Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located in a wide valley of the South Fork of the Republican River near the Kansas border, this 1,900-acre reservoir was originally built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in the 1950's. The state of Colorado transformed it into a state park in the 1970's.

Now, the former Bonny Lake State Park and the South Republic State Wildlife Area creates a 13.000-acre management unit that offers deer, turkey, waterfowl, and small game hunting.

Pets are not allowed."
