Crystal Peak Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Crystal Peak, like many of its neighbors in the Tenmile Range, is a friendly peak in all seasons. Similar to Quandary’s East Face, Crystal’s East Face often holds stable snow throughout the spring / early summer season from February to July. There are a number of attributes that make Crystal enticing for the backcountry traveler.
First, being low-angle and docile, its East Face provides a perfect introductory tour for the aspiring backcountry skier. While the route certainly features a section or two of steep snow that can slide during periods of instability, it is for the most part very mellow. Second, access to the trailhead is straightforward (being roughly 2 hours from Denver) and the road heading up to it is plowed year-round."
