Great views of Eldorado Canyon. A little steep in a few spots but worth the effort!! When a train rolls by above you, it echoes like thunder. I agree with the previous review that the loop should be taken clockwise, to take the steep part first.

Good trail with interest along the way in the form of canyon views, a panoramic view (best is from side trail) west to the Indian Peaks and Rocky Mountain Park) plus the added attraction of proximity to the Moffat Tunnel Route train tracks. (We just missed the Amtrak Zephyr going by and had to settle for a work train and a coal train.) Interesting site of an old hotel that burned in the early 20th Century also with historical signage/info. There is quite a bit of sttep trail and some slippery loose gravel on the surface of the trail. I recommend the upper loop be taken in a clockwise direction turning to the left from the Crags Hotel site. (This puts the uphill portion at the earliest stage of this part of the trail.)
