Foothills - Wonderland Lake Spur Professional Reviews and Guides
"This delightful close-in trail, part of which is paved, can be used for hiking and running. You benefit from the beauty of the Boulder foothills and have the option of circumnavigating Wonderland Lake."

"This steep trail includes great views and is a close-to-town alternative for a short hill workout. Most of the trail is subject to traffic noise, but the top of the rocky ridge is tree covered, fairly serene, and opens onto a beautiful meadow that attracts deer."
"Another great Boulder ride, this series of trails goes through the Boulder Valley Ranch area west of Boulder Reservoir. It is a good place to take a beginner since it is fairly flat with most of the trail falling into the technically easy category. Several sections, however, may challenge a novice rider. It is a quick after work getaway that can be combined with trails / roads from the CU-Boulder campus for a much longer ride. Terrain: Single track, gravel road, packed gravel trail."
--Tom Barnhart, Front Range Single Tracks (Fat Tire Press).
This is a sometimes steep cragy trail which originates off Lee Hill Road (Wonderlake Trailhead) and takes you up the hillside above the new housing development to the north. It is a rocky trail with some tall stairs in places despite which there were a number of mountain bikers. The views to the East are pleasing and we found the hike just strenuous enough to make it feel like we accomplished something when we were done. While probably not the most picturesque trail on the front range we found it a nice change of pace.
