Betasso Preserve from Town

Betasso Preserve from Town Professional Review and Guide

"A favorite of Boulder’s world-class cross-country racers, this route offers quick access to high-quality trails via the Boulder Canyon bike path and Fourmile Canyon Road. If you happen to be in Boulder already, this ride requires no driving.

Back in the much earlier days of mountain biking, the little group of trails at Betasso Preserve provided Teva-sandal-wearing, chicken breast-grilling Boulderites with one of their few (legal) opportunities to ride singletrack close to town. But the area wasn’t the easiest place to reach without a car, tucked away up there on its little hilltop, and if you had a car, frankly, you’d probably head to a more glamorous destination."

Physical Difficulty
Concrete bike path, gravel bike path, a crossing of busy Boulder Canyon Road and tour of lower Fourmile Canyon pavement, and a combination of rough and speedy singletrack trails. Approach to the dirt is a shallow, steady climb; the Connector Trail has some hike-a-bike stairs, but it’s not too bad. The Betasso Preserve trails are fast and mostly smooth.
