Maroon Bells Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Ride one of the iconic climbs in the state, on a road that is closed to auto traffic much of the year. On paper, this is a straightforward ride. Just a simple climb up and coast down. But this is a very special road. One of the reasons Maroon Creek Road is special: It’s closed to cars for the summer.
Between June 15 and September 1, tourists who want to see the Maroon Bells have to take a shuttle bus—or get there under their own power. No cars allowed! (Well, not exactly. There are a number of loopholes and exceptions: The road is always open to parents with little kids in car seats, backpackers, and those pulling horse trailers."
