Ruybalid Lake via Ruybalid Trailhead Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The climb up to Ruybalid Lake is a tough one, but as you’re ascending remember that the trail was even steeper at one time. You’ll see remnants of the old trail as you climb through the trees. Aspens grace the path, so it makes a nice fall hike.
Begin hiking Ruybalid Trail 855, ascending the mostly steep grade past ponderosa pines, white and Douglas firs, and aspens. You will enter the wilderness at 0.2 mile and see a trail leading south at 0.8 mile. If you look closely, you’ll see the word Falls written on a stump. It points the way to Rough Creek Falls, which are a mere 0.3 mile off the main trail. Don’t miss seeing the falls—they are awesome. On this short side trip you will gain 50 feet and descend 120 feet."
