Bear Lake Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Bear Lake Trail provides wonderful access for those who enjoy nice views and a high alpine lake. The fishing is supposed to be good at the lake, and the wildflowers are awesome, too. Hike in the fall, and you’ll see plenty of gold, orange, and red leaves as you walk the trail. Two side trips make nice day hikes from a base camp at the lake.
From the trailhead, which is just off the road, sign the register and begin hiking Trail 721. It descends about 80 feet amid evergreens to Saddle Creek. Cross the creek via a bridge, and begin ascending the steep slope. Fourteen moderate switchbacks make the climb easier. Most ascend through subalpine forest, although the uppermost switchbacks cross an open slope, where there are views into the valley below."
