This is an awesome weekend backpacking destination. It is a beautiful trail with so much amazing diverse scenery. It is also an extremely popular trail so be prepared for (potentially) a lot of company. The wildlife is so cool--look out for moose, mountain goats, and deer.

This was an amazing hike. We camped, so we had to hump all of our stuff in. The area had been rained on for the past few weeks, so the creek was actually a beautiful, raging river. It was so tempting to jump in, even though it was probably 40 degrees and could have easily swept us away. The hike wasn't very strenuous and made the six miles tolerable for novice guys like me. The views at both lakes were amazing. We saw a mountain goat, a few deer and three moose the following morning. Make sure you bring enough water, if you drink a lot like me. An amazing hike. You gotta do it.

Beautiful hike. Two tips - first, if you take horses, this is a tough trail - make sure they are well shoed, physically in shape, and your pack horse is very well balanced. Second, there is no water at the lower lake horse tie up area, you have a 0.4 mile hike to the stream to get water. Make sure you have a canvas bucket and plenty to daylight left. Sounds like the voice of tough experience, no? Sadly, yes - but I loved it anyway.

Trail follows palisades creek up to the lower and upper lakes where many cutthroat trout were slayed and eaten for dinner for 3 nights. We saw 6 moose and a deer and luckily no bears. Beautiful sceneries for the entire hike following the creek. One of my favorite hikes in the area!

An excellent hike, either day or overnite along a beautiful rushing stream with cascades and small falls. We saw moose, deer and plenty of mountain goats. Lower Palisades lake is set in a serene setting surrounded by a forest of douglas fir and lodgepole pines. The upper lake is nestled amid the granite peaks near the mouth of waterfall canyon.
