Wildwood Canyon State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Wildwood Canyon, scarcely a stone’s throw from Yucaipa’s bustling center, invites you to hike along shady trails past historic ranches. It is enormously popular with local equestrians, but was until recently a well-kept secret outside of Yucaipa. A developer purchased the canyon in the 1980s and planned to build thousands of homes, but a fortuitous accidental fire and subsequent flooding delayed construction and ultimately the developer sold the land to the Yucaipa Valley Conservancy. The State of California purchased the 850-acre parcel to establish a new state park, dedicated in 2003. At the time of this writing, the master plan for the park has not yet been completed and the park is not officially open, but hikers, equestrians, and cyclists are welcome to use the trails during daylight hours."
