Nevada Fall

Nevada Fall Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The famous Mist Trail arguably serves up the best views of Nevada Fall, with the backward vistas of the whitewater plunge from the John Muir Trail pulling a close second. You can’t get to Nevada Fall from the Yosemite Valley floor without passing Vernal Fall. Unless you approach from behind—the long, long way—this is a two-waterfall hike.

If you choose, you can catch views of the lower fall from the Vernal Fall bridge and then leave it behind, hiking out and back to the Nevada Fall via the John Muir Trail … but that omits half the wonder. This loop, heading up to the top of Nevada Fall via the Mist Trail and back down on the John Muir Trail, immerses you in double the excellent views and drenching mist. Begin on the paved, often crowded Mist Trail, which climbs alongside the Merced River."
