Yosemite Point Trail

Yosemite Point Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"One of the most popular activities for Yosemite National Park visitors is to stand in the valley with necks arched back and look up at the Lower Yosemite Falls. Bending their necks a little more, they can see Upper Yosemite Falls free-falling down massive granite walls in delicate plumes. With a final stretch of the neck muscles, they can see all the way to the top of the falls, where the glowing granite meets the blue sky. The strenuous hike to Yosemite Point offers you a chance to reverse this activity and look down from the top of the granite walls to the green valley below. Start early in the day to avoid the heat, and carry plenty of water."

This is a difficult hike, not to be undertaken by anyone except the most physically fit. My boyfriend and I are fairly physically fit. We go on hikes all the time, but we found this hike difficult. The 6 hour hike turned into more like 8. Definitely start this hike in the early morning, or you might end up hiking down in the dark. That being said, it was VERY rewarding when we were at the top. I’d recommend hiking poles for the steep path.
