We absolutely loved this hike. We hiked out of Tuolumne Meadows to the pass, stopping at the lower lake on the way up. We went in mid-June and that was probably too early for most people. We hit patches of snow about half-way up and once we passed the lower lake there was solid snow all the way to the pass. It was easy to lose the trail and we finally realized that we had crossed over the upper lake without seeing it because of the snow. The trail to the lower lake was also trickey and we had to back track a couple times to get on the right route. But, the hike was very worth it for our day on the trail. We also took advantage of the shower facilities at Tuolumne medows. Another great experience after being dirty for a couple days.

This is a relatively easy hike into the Yosemite backcountry. This is a great hike for people looking for an easy dayhike or an opportunity to introduce someone to hiking/backpacking. There are several alpine lakes in this general vicinity. The views of Cathedral Pk and the entire range are awsome. We did our trip in late June and there were hardly any other people.
