An under-appreciated gem of the Tuolumne backcountry. An easy and rewarding scramble puts you on top of this peak that rises to nearly 12,000 feet. Popular with trail runners, Amelia Earhart Peak is also a satisfying day hike from Tuolumne. It can also be a warm-up on an overnight approach to Mounts Lyell and Maclure. For the truly, shall we say, inspired, a one-day ascent of all three peaks is an ultramarathon epic.
