Pine Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide
"One can look at this trip as more of a “climb” than a hike, though technically it only involves some Class II scrambling; the altitude, the exposure, and the steepness make it a wonderful adventure. The trail does get away from precipitous drops about halfway up the mountain, but it retains a sharply vertical gradient for the entire trip up to the summit. From the top, there is no 360-degree view; the summit block is large and round, and part of the view is obscured no matter which way you look. But nonetheless, the views are impressive."
--Allen Riedel, 100 Classic Hikes in Southern California (The Mountaineers Books).
