Water Dog Lakes Loop

Willow Creek, California

Water Dog Lakes Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This trail visits a little-used corner of the Trinity Alps Wilderness that was scorched by a huge forest fire in 1999. A short side trip leads to an old cabin that was spared by the fire. Part of the trail was used as a mule-train route in the 19th Century. During its use, settlers traveled this passage to ferry supplies from Arcata to the Scott River Valley. Terrain: Dirt path and dirt road through dense forest, along exposed ridges, and across alpine meadows."
