If the High Rock River Trail were farther away from the Avenue of the Giants, this trip would offer an opportunity to enjoy some impressive redwoods and a view of the Eel River in peace and serenity. Most likely you won’t have to rub elbows with any fellow humans. Traffic noise, however, might disturb the otherwise reverential ambiance. The trail passes through several memorial groves of old-growth redwoods, climbs into upland forest on the way to a lovely vista of the Eel River from the top of High Rock, and then descends back into lowland forest, offering a wealth of variety for such a short hike.
