    Military Pass Trail

    Military Pass Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The dominant feature of Shasta-Trinity National Forests, and indeed of the region for miles around, is the volcanic cone of Mount Shasta. Towering above the forests at 14,162 feet, Mount Shasta has permanent glaciers and year-round snow on its peak. Special Attractions: Historic military trail; Trail traverses the north slope of Mount Shasta, offering fantastic views of the mountain; Access to hiking trails on the north side of the mountain. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
