Tangle Blue Creek & Lake (Backpacking) Professional Review and Guide
"A dose of mystique surrounds the naming of Tangle Blue Lake: an early resident journeying to the delightful area after a long evening of hearty celebration awoke to find his feet tangled and the air blue. Whether or not the legend rings true, the sheer beauty of Tangle Blue Lake deserves such a whimsical appellation. Nearly enclosed by a backdrop of rock walls and craggy pinnacles, serene waters of the lake mirror dramatic surroundings. Above the south shoreline, the pristine inlet creek dances over rock slabs and rambles through wildflowers of a damp meadow before entering the lake. Smaller flower-laden meadows are scattered elsewhere above the lakeshore. If Tangle Blue Lake had the misfortune to be located near a major population center, it would doubtless be overrun by a plethora of worshipping admirers, but due to such a remote location it sees relatively few visitors. Backpackers seeking overnight accommodations are treated to a nearly ideal campsite above the north shore. More secluded campsites can be found around the south and west shores."

This easy hike led to an amazing lake. The only thing I can't rave about on this hike is the first section that uses a forest service road, always drags the serenity down a bit. Other than that this place is amazing. I did this hike in mid October and it was cold at night about 30 degrees but amazing during the day. Tangle Blue is teaming with fish that are as delicious as they are easy to catch. When I was there we had the whole lake to ourselves for 3 days. Also there was an existing fire pit. This is the perfect over niter or two day trip. Great place for first timers as well.
