Maybe it’s the ominous sounding name, or maybe it’s the fact that the only lake here is covered with lilypads by midsummer, but for some reason Poison Canyon gets very few visitors. Though it’s just one ridge away from Boulder Lake, one of the most popular day hiking destinations in the Trinity Alps, Poison Canyon exists in its own quiet solitude. As they say, one person’s loss is another’s gain. Hikers who find their way into this beautiful canyon will be happy indeed. Highlights: A beautiful, secluded hike through one of the Trinity Alps’ hidden corners; no big lakes, just big solitude.
