Granite Peak Trail Professional Review and Guide
"If you’re a glutton for punishment and a pushover for great views, you’ll love the hike to Granite Peak. Rising 4,400 feet in 4.2 miles, the route is like one long Stairmaster to the sky, but the view from the top of the 8,091-foot peak is worth every grueling step.
All of the inner Trinity Alps, as well as Mount Shasta, Lassen Peak, and Trinity Lake are laid out before you like a relief map of rock and water. Most people tackle Granite Peak as a day hike, but you can definitely lay your sleeping bag out if you want to sleep with your head in the stars. If you do, you’ll get a small taste of what it was like for those who spent their summers up here on the old (now gone) Granite Peak fire lookout. Water is readily available along the way (but not on top)."
