Swinging Bridge Trail

Swinging Bridge Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The swinging bridge is a wooden plank and cable bridge mounted on granite rock that spans the South Fork Merced River. A trail parallels the north and south banks of the river along whitewater cascades. The hike can be enjoyed as a short stroll to the bridge or as a four-mile loop. The loop connects Forest Drive with Chilnualna Falls Road, recrossing the river on a covered bridge by the Pioneer History Center."

This was an okay hike but if you follow the long version of the hike to the other side of the Merced River you end up just walking down a paved road all the way back to Hwy 41. I would say this is more of a nice walk but the majority of it is not what I would consider a hike. The river is a great place to hang out or swim but I wouldn't really recommend doing this entire hike.
