The Upper and Lower Mariposa Groves are the two largest stands of sequoias in Yosemite. An equally important reason for a visit is to read and think about the historical importance of this grove. It is one of the reasons the national park was created and was home to Yosemite’s first guardian, Galen Clark. The Mariposa Grove is snow covered in winter and only accessible by snowshoes or skis.
