Pear Lake Hut is, by far, the nicest backcountry hut in California and makes an excellent base camp for day tours into the Tableland and some of the finest intermediate ski cruising terrain in California. The ski back to Pear Lake Hut is one of the finest intermediate descents in the Sierra Nevada. Depending on the route you take, you can expect a continuous run of 3–4 miles over wonderful and varied terrain.
