A highly visible peak in a beautiful western Sierra setting, with views that cross the Sierra to Olancha Peak and Mount Langley as well as into Kings Canyon. The summit ridge resembles a serrated saw blade. The peak even has a perfect swimming lake, situated for a dip on the way down.

We climbed Sawtooth by way of Upper Monarch Lake. This was challenging because we had to "find" our way. We were rewarded with magnificent views at the summit. We came back down to Lower Monarch Lake on the regular trail.

This is one of my favorite two day trips. Up to Monarch Lakes to camp and up&down the peak. Its made of decomposed granite so it takes a while to climb it and, depending on how bold (foolish?) you are, only 20 n=minutes to get down.
