Estero Americano Professional Review and Guide
"Alive with birdlife, this placid waterway leads from serene pastures to a beach with thundering surf. Marine Mammal Protection Act applies. Americano Creek offers a delightful smorgasbord of paddling environments, from rolling hills to a steep, fiord-like mouth, from a narrow creek to a wide estero, from warm sun to cold, windy fog. Private lands border both sides of the estero and livestock graze on the hills, which turn wonderfully green in the winter. In their season, migratory waterfowl, shorebirds, eagles, and red-tailed hawks dwell here. Duck hunters seasonally enjoy hunting the waterfowl along this scenic treasure. A local winter event is an informal fun race called the Cow Patty Pageant. Kayakers paddle from the bridge to the beach, and return. This is done at a low tide to add mud and humor to the challenge."
