Carquinez Overlook Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Pass through swaths of grassland and stands of eucalyptus on this easy trail overlooking the strategic Carquinez Strait. This short loop trail overlooks what once was one of the busiest shipping lanes in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Carquinez Strait links San Pablo Bay to Grizzly Bay and,
hence, San Francisco to the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Delta.

The strait also presented a short paddle from the East Bay to the North Bay for native people, a relitively easy, protected traverse from one set of oak- and grass-covered hills to the next. This region of the Bay Area, though growing more residential as time passes, has long been industrial."
