This ride is really two distinct out-and-backs from a hub on the western fringe of the mountain city of Truckee. One heads west to Donner Pass, while the other heads south to Lake Tahoe. Each could be done alone. The run down to Tahoe could also be combined with the ride along the west side of the big lake, as both rides meet at the northwest corner of the lake.
