North Fork to East Fork Coffee Creek Loop Professional Review and Guide
"From busy, dusty Coffee Creek Road to a seldom-used 2.6-mile sample of the Pacific Crest Trail on the Scott River Divide, this trip offers a series of contrasts. Several miles of steep, badly worn trail are balanced by pleasant, level strolls through idyllic meadows. Brushy hillsides and mixed low-elevation forest near Coffee Creek give way to subalpine vistas alternating with forests of giant red firs along the ridge between Granite and Doe lakes. However, the lakes are the real draw on this trip, ranging from large, heavily used Stoddard (at 5900 feet the destination of trail rides from Coffee Creek Ranch), to tiny, remote Section Line in a 7000-foot-plus cirque, where you might not see another party for a whole week or two."
