Anglers will love this trip—at least when they’re fishing. When they’re toiling up the last, brutally steep, crumbling half mile of trail to the crest above Battle Creek, however, they may feel differently. Although the trip starts high and ends low, as any ideal trip should, this excursion through the eastern Trinity Alps is quite strenuous, with hardly a flat spot in the entire 21 miles. However, the benefits include a string of four outstandingly beautiful lakes, each with their own particular charm. Adding in tiny Conway Lake and a short side trip to Boulder Lake brings the total of lakes to an even half dozen—all of them with excellent fishing.
