The Torrey Pines Beach Trail is unbelievably beautiful but can also be extremely crowded, unfortunately. We visited around the 4th of July, so that had something to do with it, but it is always pretty packed. It is an easy walk, and so pretty. A must-do whether you live in the San Diego area or are just visiting.

Beautiful views of ancient sea coast sites and rare vegetation. Great day hiking near the ocean during record breaking heat wave. Walk to the beach and up about 350' to edge of world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. We got in over 5 miles and 1,000' of vertical with fantastic views of the ocean, scenery, and San Diego's coast.

I was pleasantly surprise at how extensive the trail was. It was great becausethe novice could take shorter trails and those more experienced could continue on the loop. The whole loop was not too difficult for even those just starting out and the scenery was breath taking.

Trails.com has been told that the driving directions in this eTrail are inaccurate. Here are the directions from the Torrey Pines website: Torrey Pines State Reserve is located between La Jolla and Del Mar, California, north of San Diego. From Hwy 5, exit on Carmel Valley Road and drive west for about 1.5 miles till you reach the Coast Highway 101. Turn left and proceed along the beach for about a mile. The park entrance is on your right just before the highway begins to climb the Torrey Pines grade.

One of my favorite trails in San Diego. You can either walk to the cliff edge and look at the views or you can take the trial all the way down to the beach.
