South Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This spectacular trans-Sierra trek is little used between Granite Lake and the JMT. The Middle Fork Kings River runs entirely through wilderness, and backpackers will follow this watercourse upstream through its mighty canyon for much of the route. Beyond the Middle Fork, the trail crosses the Sierra Crest near the north end of the Palisades, a world-renowned group of some of the most rugged alpine peaks in the entire range."
