Potwisha Pictographs Loop Professional Review and Guide
"An easy half-mile jaunt suitable for all ages, the Potwisha loop is not much of a hike by most standards. However, an extensive display of bedrock mortars, in which the native Monache ground nuts and seeds, plus a set of pictographs add an interesting historical glimpse into the lifestyles of those who first inhabited this scenic area. During the hot part of the year, sandy beaches and rock slabs along the river provide sunbathers and swimmers with a picturesque setting. A suspension bridge over Middle Fork Kaweah River will be of special interest and a fine vantage from which to watch the river gliding over slabs, tumbling into cataracts, and swirling through delightful pools. Although the trail is easy enough for small children, exercise caution at all times because the river can be treacherous during spring and early summer."
