This path takes you to a shady campsite beside a tranquil pool with a pretty cascade. When it is open, you can drive 0.5 mile on the paved Buckeye Flat Road to the Buckeye Flat Campground. Go left (east) onto a dirt road just before you reach the camp, and follow this road for 1.3 miles to a small parking area. This will cut the hike down to 5.4 miles. Start your journey by crossing the Generals Highway using the crosswalk, and visit some Monachi bedrock mortars and an interpretive sign on the south side of the road to Buckeye Flat Campground. On the north side of this road is Hospital Rock, along with a stone stairway that leads up to a small viewing platform.
