Long Meadow Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This surprisingly pretty trek around a large meadow is a good warm-up hike. The journey starts by ascending concrete steps, heading north on the signed Lakes Trail. Treading uphill you meet an unsigned trail on the left (west), leading downhill, which is your return route. You might hear the toy-horn call of the red-breasted nuthatch coming from the surrounding trees.Continue around the curve to a junction at 0.1 mile with a spur trail leading northwest to Lodgepole. Make a right (east) turn, and then almost immediately make another right onto the signed Long Meadow Trail. Passing through meadow goldenrod and lupines, the trail enters the shady forest and skirts the meadow, which is colored in various shades of green. Shooting stars, leopard lilies, and many other fl owers bloom here in summer."
